COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — One community had homeowners feeling trapped in their own homes after tumbleweeds piled up on people’s driveways and patios.

FOX31 Denver was there as homeowners arrived to find their own homes hidden behind thousands of tumbleweeds that had blown in from open fields nearby.

“You just hope the wind comes up and carries them off again,” said one resident who was helping with the cleanup.

Some residents even resorted to calling 911 for help because the weeds began piling up in both their front and backyards.

Neighbors who weren’t even impacted felt obliged to help with the cleanup.

Strong winds caused problems all over eastern Colorado. Blowing dust reduced visibility in the southeastern part of the state.
