New heat record set in Denver

The mercury reached 93 degrees in Denver Tuesday afternoon, breaking a heat record which has stood for more than 70 years.

The previous record high of 90 degrees was set in 1939, and the hottest day on record for the month of May was 95 degrees in 1942.

Denver’s extended forecast calls for dramatically cooler temperatures for the remainder of the week. Wednesday’s forecast high is just 76 degrees.
