DENVER — Women’s football is becoming a serious deal across the country. There are currently three semipro league with close to 100 teams from the west coast to the east coast.
The Mile High Blaze are located in Denver.
“I joined the blaze because I wanted to play football for so long,” said defensive back Lucy Dombovy.
“The cool thing is you are seeing it at it’s ground level,” said head coach Terry Lister. “Women’s football has been around for about 5 years, but it’s slowly developing”
You will find all walks of life on the Blaze. From 20-year-olds to 40-year-olds. Mothers and grandmothers.
Sheilah Lowe is that grandma.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to show the younger generation, my younger children and my grandchildren that hey as long as you keep your body right, you persevere, you train right, you can do pretty much anything you put your mind to,” said the 47-year-old.
