GREELEY, Colo. -- The UNC Bears football team in Greeley is 1-3 so far this season. As they trudge through the season working to find a few wins in the Football Championship Subdivision, they are playing with purpose.
Last spring the team met Austin Ervin, a 14-year-old from Las Vegas who suffers from a rare birth defect -- closed lip bilateral schizencephaly, which causes him to suffer 80-100 seizures every day.
The Bears have made Austin an honorary team member. On Saturday in Greeley, it was Live Like Austin day. As Kami Carmann explains, it’s a relationship that has given the Bears football team a renewed perspective this season.
