DENVER — LeBron James will be in Denver to take on the Nuggets Friday night. But if you were relying on the Nuggets official Twitter feed for that information, you weren’t aware of that fact until Friday afternoon.

In promoting their team’s 8:30 p.m. tilt with the Cleveland Cavaliers, easily the most anticipated NBA game of the young season in Denver if you’re judging by average ticket prices on StubHub, the Nuggets’ marketing staff found cheeky ways to avoid mentioning the former league and finals MVP — namely by mentioning every Cavalier starter but James.

After their clever ploy went viral — being mentioned everywhere from ESPN’s Sports Center to DeadSpin — the team eventually caved, tweeting this out just before 1 p.m.

For as anticipated as the matchup may be, both the Nuggets and James’ Cavaliers have struggled through four games this season. Each team is 1-3.
