DENVER — A barrel put up for auction on eBay that was worn by Denver Broncos legendary fan Tim “The Barrel Man” McKernan is staying in the Mile High City.

Michael Fruitman, owner of Mike’s Stadium Sportscards bought the barrel Tim wore in the 2000-2001 season for $2,550.

“Purchasing this barrel was on my bucket list” said Michael Fruitman, owner of Mike’s Stadium Sportscards.  “When I first read about it being available, I knew I had to own it and give the fans of Bronco Nation an opportunity to see it in person, take photos with it and even try it on if they desire.”

“The idea that it might get bought by a Raiders fan and painted silver and black was something I just could not bear to see happen.  Please come by to enjoy it for yourself, we do however ask that you please wear a bit more than his trademark cowboy boots and cowboy hat.”

You can see the barrel at Mike’s store in Aurora, 4022 S. Parker Rd. Tim’s widow, Becky McKernan sold the barrel and she’ll be at the store from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Tim McKernan was among the first class inducted into the Hall of Fans at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He died in 2009 at the age of 69.
