LOS ANGELES — Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel said over the weekend that he has a new roommate: Broncos linebacker and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller.
“I’m living out here with my guy Von Miller. Everybody knows Von Miller,” Manziel told TMZ cameras Saturday night in Los Angeles. “Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, my brother. I’m living with him right now. We’re getting our lives together.”
Miller later took to Instagram to say two two are not living together in Los Angeles, where the linebacker has been shining on “Dancing With the Stars.”
Manziel replied to say it was his mistake. The reports are that Manziel is living with suspended Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon, who reportedly failed a recent drug test.
On Friday, Miller said he wants Manziel to join the Broncos, who lost their top two quarterbacks during the offseason. Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler fled to the Houston Texans in free agency.
The Broncos later traded for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez and there have been talks for possibly trading for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
“If I had to make my decision on it, he would already be on the Broncos,” Miller said. “But we’ve got guys in the front office that make those decisions, and they put us in championships with those decisions.”
Manziel and Miller played college football at Texas A&M, and Broncos coach Gary Kubiak also played for the Aggies. ESPN reported last week that Kubiak talked with the troubled former Heisman Trophy winner, but the Broncos aren’t expected to sign him.
Manziel went into rehab last year and his father worried in February that his son wouldn’t live to see his 24th birthday. The quarterback is also facing legal troubles on accusations he attacked his former girlfriend.
