DENVER — It’s two days until the Broncos take on the Indianapolis Colts in an AFC Divisional playoff game Sports Authority Field at Mile High and fans are gearing up.
Most fans are seasoned veterans when it comes to finding ways to and from the game. Season-ticket holders have presold permits and other parking spots at the stadium are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
The best way to get to the game is to take the bus or light rail.
According to RTD, roughly 30 percent of fans rely on public transportation to get to and from the game.
Light rail runs every 15 minutes on game day. You can also take one of 25 Broncos Ride bus routes from all across the metro area. Most are express routes, while others have one stop.
“For playoff games, we find that people like to get downtown earlier than usual,” RTD spokeswoman Pauletta Tonilas said. “The stadium is packed and you see people ride more on playoff games than sometimes you do in the regular season.”
If you drive to the game, there are several parking lots near the stadium. You can park at the aquarium or at the Metro State campus for $10. The Pepsi Center has parking for $10 to $15. The walk to the stadium is about 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, stores are anticipating a swarm of fans before the big game to load up on gear.
One of the big sellers is the Peyton Manning history shirt by Nike, which came out after Manning threw his 509th career touchdown pass.
As the Sports Authority in Glendale, a big portion of the store is dedicated just to the Broncos. But the store manager expects a big wave of fans to pour in up until kickoff at 2:40 p.m. Sunday.
“The big sellers are the on-field beanies,” Andrew Swenson said. “But Peyton Manning jerseys, you know they’re definitely the top sellers. He’s kind of the face of the team. People love Peyton manning and what he’s done for the organization.”
