DENVER -- On nearly every street corner in Denver, you’ll find orange and blue. It’s Broncos mania.
“The sun is shining, it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Go Broncos,” Kenny Wood said as he greeted customers at his Broncos memorabilia stand located in the parking lot at the Conoco on East Sixth Avenue and York Street in Denver.
Little shops, or portable canopies, have popped up all over Broncos Country.
“It’s just part of the fan experience,” Wood said. “To stop at a T-shirt stand.”
And right now, business is booming.
“This morning I was swamped,” Wood said.
You don’t necessarily have to break the bank to be the best dressed at your big-game party. OK, maybe not the “best dressed,” but the best team spirit.
“It’s definitely better than going online and it’s cheaper,” Wood said of buying at portable, street-side shops. “And we’re small business. I believe in helping the little guy.”
You can dress like the pros, but it’ll cost you. The jackets the Broncos players wore at media night retail for nearly $250.
You do want to keep an eye out for counterfeits. Wood said you can usually tell by the official NFL apparel tags or holograms on the items.
