DENVER — A new bill that aims to ban abortion in Colorado will be debated in a state House committee Tuesday.

Opponents of the proposal plan to protest at the Capitol in response.

The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on what’s called the “Protect Human Life at Conception Act.”

It would make abortions a class 3 felony in all cases, including rape and incest.

A group will gather on the Capitol steps Tuesday to make sure their opposition to the bill is heard.

A similar bill was proposed and defeated in the Colorado legislature seven years ago.
