GREELEY, Colo. — A couple arrested in October on charges of slapping and shaking a 1-year-old child appeared in court Thursday.

Greeley police arrested Reba Doyle, 21, and Scott Liles, 23, on Oct. 15, 2013 after another couple reported seeing the two hitting the baby, the Greeley Tribune reported.

The other couple allegedly showed police a video of Doyle slapping the baby and Liles shaking the baby to get her to stop crying, the paper said.

According to an arrest affidavit, Doyle and Liles both initially told police they never hit the baby but, after watching the video, both admitted to the incident. Doyle reportedly told the officer that was the only time anything like that had happened, and she “really kicked herself.”

Each adult faces one count of misdemeanor child abuse without injury.
