Sam Powell, a former U.S. Marine, tells us about Fighting Spirits rum.

After serving for 7 years in the US Marine Corps, which included two tours in Iraq, Sam decided he wanted to be a distiller.  So for the last few years, while working as a self employed contractor and rancher,  he's been developing my own very special rum.   It starts with the traditional rum flavors that come from the molasses, married to a pleasant background of American oak, followed by a distinct homemade caramel and finally just a touch of vanilla.  It's 80 proof, or 40% alcohol.   The taste testing from people around the country has been very very positive.
A distillery will give him a great vehicle to continuously support veterans who need it, because 10% of his sales will be donated to various veteran based charities, like The Wounded Warrior Project.
