SEDALIA, Colo. — A local foundation is hosting an event on Sunday to raise money for Dec. Dan Brite of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Brite was shot in the line of duty last month. He has since been released from Parker Adventist Hospital and was transferred to Craig Hospital.

The Cherokee Ranch & Castle Foundation will be serving a three-course , country-themed lunch on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Contemporary Christian bands will perform, tours of the Castle will be offered and there will be a silent auction.

Tickets are $50 for adults, with children 18 and younger getting in free. All proceeds will go to Brite and his family.

A GoFundMe page for Brite has raised more than $50,000.

More information about the fundraiser can be found on the group’s Facebook event page and tickets can be purchased online.
