WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A woman was hit and killed by a train on Saturday afternoon, the Westminster Police Department said.

The accident happened in the 10500 block of Wadsworth Boulevard about 1:30 p.m., police said.

The victim was later identified as 20-year-old Amanda Kirchner of Westminster. Kirchner is the daughter of an employee at another Denver TV station.

Police said the Burlington Northern Railroad train was going northbound along Wadsworth when the engineer spotted a person walking close to the tracks.

The train started braking and sounding its horn, but the woman had no reaction. The train couldn’t stop in time and hit the Kirchner, police said.

Police said Kirchner might have been wearing headphones at the time.
