LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. -- Spreading smoke from the Hewlett Fire is creating many health concerns for nearby residents.

A Wildfire Health Advisory for Poudre Canyon now extends from Hewlett Gulch east to Laporte.

Students at Cache La Poudre Elementary School were kept indoors Thursday to avoid any possible respiratory issues.

Also nearby, members of the Track and Field team at Colorado State University in Fort Collins continue to work out, but under tougher breathing conditions.

"There was a ton of smoke and that did make it harder," one athlete told us.

Those with respiratory issues are urged to stay indoors.
