Head lice is highly contagious and difficult to eliminate. If a child comes home from school with lice, it’s likely the bugs came from another child.

Some school districts will send a child home who has lice and not let them return until the infestation is gone. Others don’t even let other parents know when there are children with lice in the classroom.
