LITTLETON, Colo. — Waterton Canyon, the popular recreational spot near Chatfield State Park, will close for four days next week for Denver Water’s annual dust mitigation.

The parking lot, the canyon’s entrance and the canyon will be close from Tuesday, May 6, to Friday, May 9. The canyon will reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 10.

“Waterton Canyon is an extremely popular recreational destination and we recognize that the four-day closure is an inconvenience,” said Brandon Ransom, manager of recreation for Denver Water.

“By taking the time to reduce the dust early in the season, however, we’ll provide a better experience for hikers, bikers and runners throughout the rest of the summer.”
