NEW YORK — Fans came out to Madison Square Garden Tuesday to watch an exhibition match between tennis stars Roger Federer and Grigor Dimitrov. But it was an unknown young boy who emerged the star of the night.
Midway through the BNP Paribas Showdown, a boy who looked to be about 12 stepped onto the court to challenge Federer. The champ, obviously trying to be a good sport, grinned and gently served the ball.
The kid shocked the room by proceeding to rally with Federer and eventually winning the point with a beautiful lob shot over Federer’s head.
It’s still not clear who the boy is, but Federer better hope he doesn’t turn pro.
