LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Lakewood High School star girls basketball player Mackenzie Forrest died in a single-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 70 early Sunday morning.
Students at the school started commemorative campaigns on social media to honor the life and legacy of the person they called Little Mac.
One of the social media campaigns was directed to reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Forrest’s favorite player.

Curry noticed the tweet and before Wednesday’s game against the New York Knicks, he took to Twitter and gave a shoutout to the late Forrest and Lakewood High School.
Lock in! #DubNation #33forever @LHS_Tigers

Curry tweets “Lock in! #DubNation” before every game. But on Wednesday he added the hashtag #33forever that was started in memory of Forrest and tagged Lakewood High School.
It was a small gesture, but one that was noticed by Lakewood High School.
@StephenCurry30 thank you so much Mr. Curry. This means the world. I'm sure Lil Mac is freaking out in heaven. 💙💛💙💛💙
