AURORA, Colo. — The city of Aurora is looking for volunteers to help paint a mural that will stretch two blocks.
The mural will be on the pavement of Clinton Street, from Montview Boulevard to 23rd Street, in Westerly Creek Village.
Muralist Yulia Avgustinovich will create the outline on the ground and volunteers will fill it in, like a giant color-by-numbers project.
The design includes flowers, geometric shapes, a bus and airplanes to symbolize Aurora’s history, and the growth and redevelopment.
Numerous volunteers are needed to help paint the pavement Aug. 27 and 28, and Sept. 10 and 11, city officials said.
Shifts are available from 9 a.m. to noon, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., noon to 3 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day for both weekends. Volunteers can sign up for more than one shift.
“No prior experience or skills are required other than a desire to join others in creating something special and unique to share with the community and have a great time doing it,” officials said.
All supplies, including gloves, will be provided. Volunteers are asked to wear a hat, old clothes and plenty of sunscreen. The streets will be closed to traffic while people are painting.
Children are welcome to participate, but they must stay with their parents for the duration of the shift.
