AURORA, Colo. — A nurse was arrested after a federal grand jury found she illegally obtained and tampered with two drugs, fentanyl and hydromorphone.

Kacye Unruh, 30, was taken into custody Thursday. She worked at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora for three months.

Investigators said she took vials that contained the drugs and replace them with tampered materials.

The indictment against her said the case involves six patients who had repeated appointments for dialysis. University Hospital said as a precaution, 50 patients were recommended for hepatitis C testing. The hospital also said there is no evidence anyone was harmed.

She faces 29 counts, including tampering with a consumer product, obtaining a controlled substance by deceit or subterfuge and false statements.

Unruh was in federal custody Friday night. A court appearance was scheduled next week.
