DENVER – An Uber driver has been arrested by Denver Police after two passengers said he allegedly sexually assaulted one of them while both were intoxicated.

The incident happened in the early morning hours on Nov. 1. The women had been out the night before drinking at bars in LoDo for Halloween.

The women were staying at a hotel in Denver and called an Uber driver to bring them to LoDo. That driver, Luis Rodolfo Galeano Bedon, dropped them off near 14th and Market streets.

According to an arrest affidavit, before dropping the women off, Galeano Bedon gave the women his personal cell phone and told them to call him if they needed a ride back from the bars after.

“So at the end of the night, in the early hours of Nov. 1, they called his personal cell phone,” said Lynn Kimbrough with the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Police said Galeano Bedon scooped the women up in his mini-van and headed back towards their hotel. During the drive, one of the women told Galeano Bedon she was sick. It’s alleged he urged both women to sit up front with him.

“Unfortunately he’s alleged to have taken advantage of the fact they had been downtown drinking,” Kimbrough added.

According to the affidavit, Galeano Bedon sexually assaulted one of the women while she was passed out. The woman awoke and allegedly found Galeano Bedon inserting his fingers inside her vagina.

When the women returned to their hotel, they told police Galeano Bedon followed them inside and up to their room. One of the women was sober enough and took out her cell phone to record Galeano Bedon. The affidavit said Galeano Bedon covered his face and took off.

According to the District Attorney’s office, surveillance video from the hotel shows Galeano Bedon entering the lobby with the women.

Galeano Bedon is being held on $50,000 bond.

Over the phone, Uber told FOX31 Denver it’s cooperating with Denver Police. Uber took Galeano Bedon off its platform while the investigation unfolds.

Galeano Bedon does not have a criminal record.
