Two Lakewood police officers injured while taking suspect into custody

LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- A Lakewood police officer was injured in a incident Friday night the department said. It happened near the 7000 block of West Colfax Avenue.

There was a fire at 14th Avenue and Saulsbury Street at the time emergency crews were responding to.

There was a traffic stop somewhere near a house in the area of 14th Avenue and Saulsbury Street where police tried to take a suspect into custody.

The suspect took off, dragging a Lakewood police agent. A second officer chased the suspect to the home at 14th and Saulsbury, where a fire was started.

The second officer was then injured taking the suspect into custody, police said. Neither the suspects nor the officers were identified.
