PARKER, Colo. -- Two people were taken to a hospital after a vehicle crashed into a home early Monday morning, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.
The incident happened just before 4 a.m. at 5292 Nashua Circle when the vehicle partially went inside a bedroom at the home.
A 70-year-old man inside the bedroom was hit by debris and transported to a hospital. The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Gunner Bolstad, was also taken to a hospital. The conditions and extent of the injuries to both victims were not not known.
Bolstad was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, careless driving resulting in injury, four counts of reckless endangerment and third-degree assault, the sheriff's office said.
Two other passengers in the vehicle did not need to be taken to a hospital. The 70-year-old man's 13-year-old grandson was also in the home, but he was not injured, the sheriff's office said.
"I just see myself waking up in my bed with a loud crash. It's just a shock at what just happened," said Kyle Thompson, the grandson. "It seemed like it lasted forever."
Thompson said the bed was flipped over, a door was busted open and lights were broken.
"Just don't drink and drive," Thompson said. "It kills. It can ruin a house or ruin someone's life. It could have been a lot worse."
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
