Truck catches fire near Denver Union Station construction site

DENVER — A truck went up in flames near the construction site at Denver’ Union Station  Friday, sending up a large black plume of smoke visible across the Metro area.

According to a Denver Fire Department spokesperson, the truck caught fire just before 11 a.m. near the construction site. The plume of smoke was visible from the FOX31 Denver offices approximately two and a half miles away.

The fire damaged an awning in the area, but there were no other major damages to report as of 11:15 a.m.

There were no injuries to report either. As of 11:20 a.m., fire crews had knocked down the fire but were still working to determine what caused it.
