GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids woman made a startling discovery when she found a boa constrictor living in her couch.

According to WZZM-TV, the woman had the couch in her bedroom for about two months before finding the snake. Holly Wright told the TV station that the couch had been abandoned on the street and she took it home.

“We smelled it and everything,” Wright said. “It looked okay. We peeled off the cushions, cleaned it up.”

Wright said the snake was lethargic when she found it. The snake was likely hiding from the cold and hadn’t eaten in a long time, she said.

“It was quite cold in the room, there was no food for the snake and I think it came out of the couch because it was dying,” Wright said.
