CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Apparently, NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon does read mean comments about himself on the internet.
About a year ago, Gordon starred in a Pepsi ad in which he appeared to take a car salesman for a wild, terrifying ride in one of his own cars. But almost as soon as the video went viral, numerous drivers and media outlets began claiming that the scene was staged.
One of the harshest critics was Travis Okulski of auto blog Jalopnik.
“Jeff Gordon did not drive the car and every single person in the video was an actor,” Okulski said last March.
So Pepsi and Gordon decided to run the con again, this time targeting Okulski himself.
This video was definitely real.
