People are talking about a mysterious bright light or flash on Mars in a photo that NASA released recently.

The Mars rover Curiosity took the picture of the light Thursday, April 3. You can see it inside the circle in the photo above.

Some space enthusiasts suggest it’s being projected from underground and is a sign of possible life.

NASA hasn’t said a lot about it other than this is not proof of life on Mars.

An employee at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory told NBC News the bright spot may be caused by a cosmic ray hitting the rover.

Other explanations from those who work on the Mars rover project suggest it could be light coming through the housing of the camera or even sunlight reflecting off something.
