DENVER — A new supply of one of the hottest and hardest items of the holiday season will hit some Colorado Wal-Mart stores on Thursday.

Hatchimals are little furry interactive creatures living inside a large hard-shelled egg. Their best feature is they self-hatch, breaking through the shell after a little bit of coaxing and cajoling.

Toymaker Spin Master unveiled the item in October and they have been all the rage, with retailers selling out a month before Christmas.

Starting Thursday, five Wal-Mart stores in Colorado will receive new shipments of Hatchimals.

  • Aurora: 6101 S. Aurora Parkway
  • Centennial: 10900 E. Briarwood Ave.
  • Cortez: 1835 E. Main St.
  • Durango: 1155 S. Camino Del Rio
  • Littleton: 13420 W. Coal Mine Ave.

Hatchimals, which are priced at $48.88, will be landing on Wal-Mart shelves through Dec. 19. Dozens per store are scheduled to be delivered.

Customers should check with the stores for when they’re expected to arrive. The shipments are part of a larger national shipment that numbers in the tens of thousands, Wal-Mart said.
