WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The owner of a restaurant in North Carolina likes to watch people pray before eating — and if it’s seen, there’s a 15 percent discount on the meal.

Mary Haugland, who owns Mary’s Gourmet Diner, told it’s not a promoted discount and the wait staff is under no obligation to give it out.

A Christian radio station in Orlando, Fla., put a copy of a receipt on its Facebook page.

Customers seen “having a moment” get 15 percent off their order, no matter who or what they believe in. Haugland says it’s about being thankful.

“A lot of people on the Internet right now have a lot of negative things to say about it.  It’s Christian, or it’s this, or it’s that. It’s not. It’s just an attitude of gratitude,” she said.
