NEW YORK — Metallica used toy instruments to play a rendition of “Enter Sandman” alongside Jimmy Fallon and The Roots on Wednesday night.

The heavy metal group took part in one of Fallon’s “Tonight Show” bits, performing one of their biggest hits with the help of a toy keyboard, a xylophone and a kazoo.

Adele, Mariah Carey, Madonna and other performers previously reworked a hit song for a classroom version on Fallon’s show.

Metallica is promoting its latest album, “Hardwired … to Self-Destruct,” which is scheduled to be released Friday.
