DAYTON, Ohio — Ohio State wasn’t the only big winner Monday night.

The Buckeyes beat Oregon to win college football’s national championship — and customers at 15 Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Better Sleep Shops in Ohio and northern Kentucky are about to get big refunds thanks to a promotion.

Ohio-based Morris Furniture Company ran a promotion that if customers bought $1,999 or more of furniture between Dec. 17 and Jan. 1 and Ohio State won the national championship by seven points or more, then the money would be refunded.

Ohio State won, 42-20, and now $1.5 million will be refunded to customers.

Rob Klaben, vice president of marketing and advertising at Morris Furniture, told ABC News that about 500 customers qualified. It won’t cost Morris Furniture directly. Klaben said a third-party company that wants to stay anonymous will fork over the $1.5 million.

“We did work with a third-party company that underwrote the promotion. So we’re excited to see a win,” Klaben said. “It’s not inexpensive to have this kind of promotion.”
