DENVER — A firefighter rescued a dog from a water meter pit on Monday afternoon, the Denver Fire Department said.

The owners said they took the lid off the water meter pit at 811 Lipan St. to clean it out and their dog fell in.

The person who called 911 told the dispatcher the dog had been stuck in the pit for about two hours.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to rescue the dog.

The dog was OK and back with its owners Monday night.
