SANTA CATARINA, Brazil — A dog owned by an accused drug dealer was quick to obey law enforcement commands last week.

The male dog was at the scene when Brazilian police raided an alleged gang hangout containing drugs, scales and firearms, the New York Post reported. As officers burst in screaming “Get down, get on the ground!” a group of suspects followed orders.

So did the confused animal.

According to the Post, local cops have a reputation for simply shooting dogs that may pose a threat, so the dog’s quick action may have saved its life.

It is believed the obedient dog was later released.
