LAS VEGAS -- The Colorado State men's basketball team had its shot at reaching the NCAA tournament dashed Saturday with a 79-71 loss to Nevada in the Mountain West Conference tournament.
Nevada, the regular-season champion, earned the conference's automatic berth with the win.
The Rams reached the final after beating San Diego State, 71-63, late Friday night in the semifinals.

It was the first time since 2003 that Colorado State played in the conference title game.
On Sunday, the Rams earned a berth in the NIT. They will play College of Charleston in Fort Collins on Friday night.
