LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Park County Master Patrol Deputy Kolby Martin is recovering from injuries he suffered during a deadly shootout Wednesday.

Officials at St. Anthony Hospital said Friday that Martin’s condition has been upgraded from serious to fair.

Martin was shot multiple times in the lower extremities as he and two other deputies served an eviction notice. Martin was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and spent most of Wednesday afternoon in surgery and in critical condition.

Martin has recovered enough to pose for pictures with his trauma surgeon, Dr. Rebecca Vogel. He and his family thank the public for their prayers and support.

Cpl. Nate Carrigan was killed in the shootout and Capt. Mark Hancock suffered minor injuries. Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener said the suspect, Martin Wirth, initiated the violence. He was killed at the scene.
