THORNTON, Colo. -- Thornton Police Officers were looking for a man who reportedly attempted to sexually assault a child on Wednesday.

The incident happened at approximately 7 p.m. in the 700 block of West 84th Avenue while three females were leaving a dance class at Urban Acrobatics, according to a preliminary investigation.

Officers responded and found two juvenile girls and a adult woman who said they were walking to their car near the location.

A girl and her friend got in the backseat of the car and before the mother could reach the car, a man allegedly got in the backseat and began attacking one of the young girls, according to the Thornton Police Department.

Police said, the mother was successful in rescuing the girls by pulling them out of the vehicle.

The suspect then ran away from the area and is being sought by police.

Thornton Police received a photo of a person of interest in this case, wearing a construction vest from an unknown company. Authorities were trying to determine what company may be associated with the letters on the back of his vest, in the picture below.

He is described as a Hispanic man, 5-foot-10 inches tall weighing between 160-180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

The man is said to have a muscular or husky build, with a very thin chin strap style beard, newly cut fade haircut, flat on top.

The suspect’s facial complexion is described as being pock marked with acne scars (sketch in gallery above), according to reports. The suspect also had several tattoos on both hands and arms, with a distinctive cross on one forearm (see diagram in gallery above).  The man was reportedly last seen wearing a black t-shirt with short sleeves, black boots with a silver buckle on the side.

Witnesses told police the suspect had being loitering in the area for most of the day.
