PHOENIX — A homicide suspect wanted in connection to the death of a homeless man has been arrested in Arizona, the Thornton Police Department said.

Brandon Sugg, 23, was arrested in Phoenix on Wednesday and is awaiting an extradition hearing.

Police identified Sugg as the assailant in the death of 47-year-old, Brian McGreevy on May 25.

Detectives say both men were homeless. Police found McGreevy’s body behind the Sunrise Village Shopping Center on Washington Street with obvious signs of trauma.

Police said they’ve had numerous contacts with Sugg.

Sugg served three days in jail in August 2014 on a conviction for petty theft of less than $50, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records.
