GREELEY, Colo. -- Thieves struck a Greeley family's flag display that's set up every year in the weeks surrounding the anniversary of 9/11.

Bob Perrich has been flying the flags of the 19 NATO countries every years since 2002. He says it's to recognize the people who died in the attack and to remind all of us that all nations are united in the fight against terrorism.

But he says Wednesday morning he found that someone had cut down six of the flags and took them. "The property can be replaced. The thoughts you hold in your mind and the feelings you hold in your heart ... the only way they can be taken is if you choose to give them up and so I choose not to do that."

Perrich says he contacted a Denver flag company, which was able to send him replacements overnight. The flags will all be in place in time for the anniversary Thursday.
