PUEBLO, Colo. — Officials want to catch an 18-year-old from Pueblo County who is accused of running over his grandmother during the theft of a vehicle.
The 67-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was run down early Thursday morning in the 1400 block of 27th Lane in Pueblo County.
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said Fabian Quintana was trying to steal a recently purchased 2007 pickup truck.
The woman tried to remove the keys to keep Quintana from driving away. Quintana then put the vehicle in drive and accelerated, running over the woman, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies found the vehicle in Pueblo and tried to pull the driver over. The sheriff’s office said Quintana crashed the truck, backed up toward the deputy who attempted to make the stop, then sped away.
An arrest warrant for reckless driving, vehicular assault, vehicular eluding and aggravated motor vehicle theft has been issued for Quintana’s arrest.
He’s described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-8 and 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts or the case is asked to call the sheriff’s office or Pueblo Crime Stoppers 719-544-7867.
