CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — A high school student was killed in a three-vehicle crash near Castle View High School on Tuesday morning, the Douglas County School District confirmed.

The Douglas County Coroner’s Office said the student was 17-year-old Kyra Connolly. A large teddy bear and flowers were placed near the scene of the crash at Butterfield Crossing Drive and North Sungold Lane.

Police, the Colorado State Patrol, and Castle Rock Fire and Rescue responded to the crash just after 10 a.m.

Police said Connolly was driving on the wrong side of the road when her vehicle sideswiped another vehicle and then collided head-on with a Douglas County School District delivery truck.

What caused Connolly to cross to the wrong side of the road is still under investigation.

Connolly was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. The third driver was not injured.
