GREELEY, Colo. — A few universities in northern Colorado are investigating strange symbols popping up on their campuses.

Students have reported seeing them at the University of Colorado Boulder, Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado.

On the UNC campus, students are finding flash drives and notes on the drawings, which link them to strange YouTube videos.

Although they’re heavily edited, the videos appear to show the artist drawing the symbols. It’s unclear what the notes say, but the videos are titled with numbers and letters. One reads “E 23 E 6 27 18 8 4 2 112.”

“We’re aware of the situation. Campus police have determined that there’s no identifiable threat at this point,” UNC spokesman Nate Haas said.

CU said it’s also investigating the symbols and it talking with other law enforcement about them. CSU said it has not received any reports of activity.

Students who have seen the symbols are just as baffled.

“There’s just so much mystery that we can’t really know what’s going on,” UNC student Aaron Lyman said.

Until everyone figures out what the symbols mean, they simply remain a mystery.
