Thousands raised for children’s cancer research at St. Baldrick’s head shaving event

DENVER -- More than 500 people shaved their hair on Friday to help raise money for children's cancer research.

The annual event, for the St. Baldricks Foundation, was held at Fado's Irish Pub (1735 19th St., Denver) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Denver group is looking to raise more than $400,000 this year. The top team already has raised $43,000.

The organization raised $39 million worldwide last year.
