SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — A semitrailer hauling eggs crashed on Interstate 70 on the descent from the Eisenhower Tunnel into Silverthorne on Thursday morning.

Tom Steed posted a video on Instagram showing the mangled truck and the numerous crates of eggs scattered over numerous yards.

Steed posted the driver was the man in a red shirt who “somehow” survived. The Colorado State Patrol said the driver was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident, which is under investigation.

Traffic was reduced to one lane in the westbound lanes and quickly backed up on Interstate 70 as crews worked to clear the accident.

The Colorado State Patrol said the right lanes are expected to be closed until about 6 p.m.
