WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — Two people were injured in a multivehicle crash involving an RTD bus on Wednesday morning, the Wheat Ridge Police Department said.

The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. at Wadsworth Boulevard and West 38th Avenue.

Police said a suspected driver who was under the influence and traveling westbound on 38th Avenue in a Toyota 4Runner ran a red light and hit the bus that was traveling northbound on Wadsworth.

Police said the bus then hit a Jeep.

The drivers of the 4Runner and Jeep were taken to a hospital to be treated for unknown injuries. Their conditions were not released.

Police said they found marijuana in the 4Runner and the crash is being investigated as a possible DUI for alcohol and marijuana.

The driver and two passengers on the bus were not injured.

Wadsworth was closed in both directions for several hours while police investigated and cleared the crash. It reopened just before 9 a.m.
