AURORA, Colo. — The victim of a hit-and-run driver in construction zone speaks out as state police promise to crack down on drivers breaking the law in work zones.

Tamra Hagen-Shockey was holding a traffic sign at the construction site near East Iliff Avenue and I-225 Monday when someone hit her, and then took off. “She hit the gas again and she hit me at the knees for the second time and I landed on the hood.” Tamra has a serious leg injury.

Investigators say they’ve now identified that driver, and they’re looking into whether alcohol may have been a factor.

“People are angry. There’s construction everywhere and everyone seems to be in a hurry to get nowhere fast,” she says.
