DENVER — The heat is on today. The record high for today’s date is 90 set back in 1939. We should shatter that record as Denver’s temperature climbs into the mid-90s.
It would also be the first 90 degree day this year and the hottest day since September 1, 2011 when we hit 96. This could be the hottest day in May ever in Denver. The record of 95 was set in 1942.
a Red Flag Warning is in effect for much of the western half of the state. Tomorrow a cold front comes in to bring us cooler temperatures and up the chance for rain. There is a slight risk of severe storms with hail Wednesday afternoon, especially for the northeast corner of the state.
Right now the best chance for an afternoon t-storm is on Sunday. Otherwise skies most of the Memorial Day Weekend stay partly sunny. Highs will be in the low to mid-70s.
