EATON, Colo. --Donald and Rita D’Innocenzo are living under a roof in extreme disrepair.
“We have eight buckets we put in the kitchen when it rains. My stomach's in knots, I’m always looking at the sky,” Rita D’Innocenzo said.
They have plenty of pride and have worked all their lives, but an illness left Donald D’Innocenzo unable to work.
“When you're a little bit on the cash-side poor, it was … humbling in the least, we couldn't just slap on a roof," he said.
They can’t afford to pay thousands of dollars for a new roof, but thanks to the kindness of strangers, they won’t have to.
Pinnacle Roofing found out the couple needed help after Eddie Judkins contacted their neighbor, Erin Connell.
It only took minutes for the team to decide to provide a complete replacement, a job valued at more than $20,000.
“There's a lot of people out there who get down on their luck. These folks are elderly ... the way their roof is they can't live in this house for a long period of time," Pinnacle Roofing general manager Stephen Engler said.
“To be a part of a company that would take the time to give back to the community, it's priceless," Pinnacle employee Joel Rasmussen said.
Rita D’Innocenzo is excited and already picking out colors for the new roof.
“I've been praying for years to get a roof. This is truly an answer to our prayers God is so good," she said.
