DENVER -- A Denver woman is hoping the person who stole her car hears her desperate plea. Michelle Denny says without it, she could lose her husband.

Denny’s husband, James, has a serious lung disease and is on an organ transplant list. That means when the hospital calls to say they are ready to take him into surgery, the couple has to be ready to go.

“If they call and I say I don’t know if I can make it on time, they might give to somebody else,” James Denny said.

Michelle Denny said the car was stolen from their apartment complex garage at Fifth Avenue and Lincoln on Monday morning. It was a white Subaru Outback outfitted with an oxygen tank that James Denny needs to breathe.

“We might not get to the hospital on time. I lose the man I’ve known since I was 11,” Michelle Denny said.

The couple has been married for decades and as they get ready to share another anniversary together, their spirits are crushed.

“We are celebrating 35 years in a few days, and I don’t even have a car to go get him a card. So yeah,  I’m scared,” Michelle Denny said.

The couple has set up a Go Fund Me Page in hopes they raise enough money to buy a car if theirs doesn’t show up.
