DENVER — David Moe has worked with preschool kids at Paddington Station School for 18 years.
His arrest by ICE agents for possessing and transferring child pornography on his computer is sending shock waves thru the school community.
One woman who didn’t want to give her name says parents have had concerns about Moe for nearly a decade.
“Ten years ago, Moe was on the carpet after a child said he took her to the bathroom and touched her inappropriately,” said the parent. “The school said they were going to put new policies in place to safeguard the kids, but they never did.”
A spokesperson says the new policy included: only females were to change diapers and two adults would escort kids to the bathroom. Parents of students then say those policies were never put in place.
Investigators say Moe was caught by cyber cops tracking people who make available, trade and collect images of child porn.
He admitted possessing child pornography on his computer according to the affidavit. The agents say they found DVDs and CDs containing child pronography.
Some of the children in the photos were as young as four according to investigators.
While parents have been calling the school since last week’s arrest, the school waited until Thursday to contact parents. They have a parents-only meeting with counselors set for Friday—August 3—at 6:30 p.m.
Administrators apologized for taking so long to respond to the arrests but say they wanted to make sure they had ‘a support system’ in place before getting in touch with parents.
The school has set up a hotline for parents who suspect any wrong actions by Moe…720-944-300.
The U.S. Attorney is asking anyone with any information to call Homeland Security at 303-721-3035.
Moe is charged with distribution and attempted distribution of child pornography which carries a penalty of 5 to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000. He is also charged with possession of child pornography which carries up to 10 years and fine of $250,000. He is due in court next week.
